Waynesboro YMCA SMAC swim team is a year-round Age Group, Masters, and Development swim team based at the Waynesboro YMCA in Waynesboro, Virginia. We swim as both a USA Swimming team and a YMCA team and participate in a variety of meets throughout the year.

We have two primary practice sites – the Waynesboro YMCA, a 6 lane 25 yard indoor pool and War Memorial Pool in Ridgeview Park, an 8 lane 50 meter outside pool. Both are located in Waynesboro.

SMAC HIRES NORM WRIGHT AS THE NEW DIRECTOR OF COMPETITIVE SWIMMING

Coach Norm Wright is an ASCA level 4 coach with 15 years of experience. Coach Wright comes to us from Georgetown, where he was an assistant, volunteer coach. He is a former Director of Competitive Swimming at Coffman YMCA in Ohio where he doubled the team’s number of YMCA Short Course Nationals qualifiers in first season. He is also a former Senior Assistant Head Coach at FISH, a Gold Medal US Swim Club, where he supervised 9 coaches and 300 athletes. We are fortunate to have this high caliber, high energy, dedicated swim coach with strong communication skills leading our team.

TEAM REGISTRATION

Registration forms are located on the "Program Registration" tab. There will be ‘tryouts’ for new swimmers (or current swimmers that wish to get some water time with the coaches and figure out what group they should start the season in) all that week (Tues-Friday) from 4:45 – 6:15.

UNIFORM UPDATES

1. Reminder your swimmer receives a free T-shirt when he/she registers. Please see Coach Norm for receipt of this T-shirt. Also additional T-shirts for parents and siblings are on sale for $15.00. Please make your check payable to the YMCA and purchase it at the front desk. The front desk will give you a receipt this receipt must be handed to Coach Norm to redeem your shirt. Coach Norm will be happy to help you before and after practices when he is in his office. Please do not leave any checks in my mailbox.

2. The try-on suits and "NEW" warm-ups will be available for fitting on Friday, Sept 3rd from 4:45 - 6:00 and again on Wednesday, Sept. 8th from 4:30 -7:30. Please make every effort to make one of these time slots. If these times do not suit you please contact me directly.

3. Purchase of all Team apparel and equipment is due by Sept 10th. All orders should be placed and paid for at the YMCA front desk. I will receive all necessary data and place a bulk order on the morning of the 11th. Orders must be paid for in advanced, I can not input any orders that have not been paid in advance.

4. Order forms for Team apparel and equipment are available for download on the tab to the left "SMAC STORE".
